Dronamics and Qatar Airways Cargo Sign World’s First Cargo Drone Interline Agreement

London – 29 November 2023 — Dronamics, the world’s first cargo drone airline licensed to operate in Europe, has joined forces with Qatar Airways Cargo, the largest international cargo carrier, in a groundbreaking interline agreement. This partnership, a first of its kind between a cargo drone airline and an international airline, is set to revolutionize the global air freight industry.

The interline agreement opens up new delivery networks for both companies, greatly expanding their reach and accessibility to areas previously difficult to access through traditional air freight methods. As part of this agreement, Dronamics will offer cargo services from its droneports in Greece to the extensive Qatar Airways Cargo network, including destinations like Singapore, China (including Hong Kong), and the United States (JFK). In turn, Qatar Airways Cargo gains access to remote locations served by Dronamics, such as the enchanting Greek islands, through the cargo drone network.

This expanded network means that customers utilizing Dronamics’ services can now make a single booking to transport goods from any Dronamics droneport to any destination covered by the interline joint network. This seamless exchange of goods opens up a world of possibilities, from the transportation of pharmaceuticals and food to e-commerce, mail, parcels, and spare parts. The agreement enables rapid and reliable shipments to and from locations that were previously underserved by traditional air freight.

Svilen Rangelov, Co-Founder and CEO of Dronamics, expressed excitement about the partnership, stating, We’re very excited to have the world’s largest air cargo carrier as our partner for the first-of-its-kind interline agreement with our category-defining cargo drone airline. While currently less than 1% of global trade moves by air, the vast global reach of Qatar Airways Cargo and their world-leading capacity and service give us the perfect platform to massively expand air cargo accessibility to countless more communities worldwide, enabling same-day delivery for everyone, everywhere.

Adding to Rangelov’s enthusiasm, Elisabeth Oudkerk, SVP Cargo Sales & Network Planning at Qatar Airways Cargo, shared the airline’s commitment to leveraging new technology. She said, As a part of our VISION 2027 5-year strategy, we are committed to remaining at the forefront of our industry by embracing new disruptive technology. It is also within our DNA to support young ambitious companies like Dronamics, and we are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for this exciting business. It is a significant milestone in the advancement of autonomous cargo drone transportation, and we are proud to be the first international airline to offer this service.

Dronamics is set to kick off commercial operations in Greece in early 2024, focusing on establishing a same-day service connecting Athens with the industrial north and the picturesque Greek islands in the south. This initiative represents a significant step forward in realizing their vision of providing efficient, reliable, and cost-effective air cargo services to communities worldwide.

The partnership between Dronamics and Qatar Airways Cargo not only marks a notable milestone in the logistics industry but also highlights the potential impact of autonomous cargo drone transportation on global air freight. With their shared commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, these industry leaders are poised to reshape the way goods are transported across the globe.

In a world where time is of the essence and demand for efficient transportation solutions continues to grow, this interline agreement brings forth a new era of possibilities for global trade, connecting communities and enabling seamless connectivity between previously underserved areas. The future of air freight has taken flight, powered by the collaboration between Dronamics and Qatar Airways Cargo.
