In a solemn event organized by the High Commission of India in London, UK Parliamentarians lauded India for its dedicated efforts in tackling terrorism and stressed the urgent need for peace and prosperity. Lord Rami Ranger, a member of the UK Parliament’s House of Lords, openly criticized neighboring countries for their role in perpetuating terrorism and urged them to focus on building a brighter future for their younger generations. Speaking to ANI at the event held in memory of the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Lord Ranger expressed his disappointment at the countries neighboring India and highlighted the unfortunate consequences of their actions. Stressing the importance of change and development, Lord Ranger urged them to redirect their focus towards producing experts instead of terrorists.

The 2008 Mumbai attacks, also known as the 26/11 attacks, were a series of terrorist incidents that unfolded in November 2008. Heavily armed terrorists from the Pakistan-based group Lashkar-e-Taiba wreaked havoc on the streets of Mumbai, attacking key public installations and unarmed civilians. The horrifying attacks claimed the lives of 166 people, including foreigners, and left over 300 injured. Reflecting on the tragic events of 26/11, Lord Ranger expressed his concern over the state of the nations responsible and their failure to use their resources to foster growth and prosperity. Lord Ranger, being a victim of the partition and having lost his father while becoming a refugee, stressed that the leadership in those countries needs to wake up and take responsibility for guiding their nations towards progress.

Virendra Sharma, a British MP of Indian origin, also commended India’s ongoing efforts in combating terrorism and striving for peace and prosperity. Recognizing the destructive nature of terrorism, Sharma expressed his admiration for India’s resilience and determination. He emphasized that nations embracing terrorism and aggression fail to prosper, while those pursuing peace and inclusivity thrive. Sharma praised India’s endeavors and highlighted the nation’s proactive approach in collaborating with communities and nations worldwide to foster development and achieve lasting peace.

Catherine West, another member of the British Parliament, emphasized the importance of respecting one another and resolving differences through dialogue and understanding rather than resorting to violence. West underscored the impact of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and reiterated the need for citizens to live in peace without fear of such atrocities. She expressed her pleasure in joining fellow Parliamentarians and the High Commissioner in paying tribute to the victims of the attacks. West emphasized the necessity for mutual respect and urged everyone to work towards stamping out hatred, promoting understanding, and fostering peaceful coexistence.

The memorial event held at the Gandhi Hall, India House in London served as a reminder of the devastating impact of terrorism and the importance of unity and peace in today’s world. Parliamentarians from the UK Parliament came together to show their support and pay their respects to the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Through their words, they highlighted India’s steadfast efforts in countering terrorism and echoed the crucial need for nations to prioritize peace, understanding, and development over violence and aggression.
