Indian cricket team stars often put pressure on umpires during home matches, according to Nitin Menon, the sole Indian umpire on the ICC Elite panel. Menon, who officiated in last year’s T20 World Cup matches and the ongoing Ashes 2023 series, said he found it easier to stand in overseas matches. He praised former India pacer Javagal Srinath, now a match referee, for advising him and other umpires on how to manage players. Indian umpires are making significant progress, and Menon anticipates that more of them will join the ICC Elite Panel soon.
