Actor James McDaniel, known for his role as Lt. Arthur Fancy on NYPD Blue, is the latest New Yorker to be accused of sexual assault before the expiration of the state’s Adult Survivors Act deadline on Thanksgiving. The lawsuit, filed under the Adult Survivors Act, alleges that McDaniel assaulted a woman in 2004 outside a restaurant in Manhattan. The anonymous plaintiff claims that McDaniel violently pinched her breasts, causing her pain and humiliation. The complaint also accuses McDaniel of retaliating against the plaintiff for reporting the incident. McDaniel’s attorney denies the allegations and claims to have eyewitness declarations contradicting the plaintiff’s account. Other high-profile New Yorkers, including Mayor Eric Adams and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, have also faced abuse claims before the expiration of the statute of limitations. Both Adams and Cuomo have denied the accusations.
