CF Dallas LLC Recalls a Dozen Cantaloupe Products amid Salmonella Outbreak

CF Dallas LLC has issued a recall for twelve cantaloupe products due to a potential link to a Salmonella outbreak. This action follows a previous recall initiated by Sofia Produce LLC dba Trufresh, who flagged the possibility of Salmonella contamination among their entire stock of cantaloupes. Some of the CF Dallas fresh-cut products were sold under the RaceTrac brand name.

Although all CF Dallas freshcut fruit products associated with the recalled cantaloupes have expired, there is a concern that consumers who have purchased these items may have stored them in their freezers for future use. To ensure public safety, individuals are strongly advised not to consume these products and are urged to dispose of them immediately or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund.

As of November 22, there have been no confirmed illnesses reported in relation to CF Dallas fresh-cut products. However, a total of 99 people have fallen sick in an ongoing Salmonella outbreak associated with cantaloupes, including those supplied to CF Dallas. Tragically, two of the patients have already lost their lives.

The CF freshcut fruit products containing the recalled cantaloupes were distributed to retail stores across ten states: Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Illinois, Texas, and Louisiana. These products are typically packaged in clear square or round plastic containers, each marked with one of the specified lot codes listed below.

CF Dallas LLC has set up a customer service line at 281-651-5400 Ext. 5400 for any consumer inquiries or to report any adverse reactions.

Salmonella infections are caused by the consumption of food contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. It is worth noting that contaminated food does not exhibit any visual, olfactory, or taste cues of spoilage. Any individual can fall ill as a result of a Salmonella infection, but infants, children, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to severe complications due to their fragile immune systems, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Those who have consumed any of the recalled products and subsequently developed symptoms of a Salmonella infection should seek immediate medical attention. Individuals should inform their healthcare providers about the potential exposure to Salmonella bacteria, as specialized tests are required for an accurate diagnosis of salmonellosis. Symptoms of a Salmonella infection typically include diarrhea, abdominal cramps, and fever, manifesting within 12 to 72 hours after consuming contaminated food. In otherwise healthy adults, the illness usually lasts for four to seven days. However, in severe cases, hospitalization may be necessary due to the intensity of diarrhea.

Older adults, children, pregnant women, and individuals with compromised immune systems, such as cancer patients, face a higher risk of developing severe illnesses and potentially life-threatening conditions.

Notably, some individuals may carry the bacteria without displaying any symptoms of sickness. Unfortunately, even in the absence of symptoms, they can still transmit the infection to others.

In order to prioritize consumer safety, CF Dallas LLC urges all affected individuals to take the necessary precautions outlined in the recall notice. It is crucial to dispose of the recalled products or return them to the place of purchase to receive a full refund. By doing so, consumers can protect themselves and their communities from the potential harm associated with Salmonella contamination.

In conclusion, CF Dallas LLC has issued a recall for a dozen cantaloupe products due to a possible link to a Salmonella outbreak. Consumers are strongly advised against consuming these products and should dispose of them immediately or return them to their local store for a refund. The company has taken this voluntary action in light of public safety concerns and the ongoing efforts to combat the Salmonella outbreak that has already impacted 99 individuals and resulted in two deaths. Vigilance and adherence to the recall guidelines are vital to prevent further illnesses and protect vulnerable populations from severe complications.
