Hundreds of Runners and Chuggers Gather in Neptune Beach for Annual Tony’s Turkey Trot and Petes-giving

NEPTUNE BEACH, Fla. – The Beaches Town Center was bustling with excitement on Thanksgiving morning as runners and chuggers alike gathered for the highly-anticipated Tony’s Turkey Trot and Petes-giving. This decades-old tradition has been bringing people together for nearly 40 years, fostering a sense of community and celebration during the holiday season.

For many participants, the Turkey Trot holds a special meaning beyond just the thrill of the race. Stacie and Paisle, for instance, joined in to honor a family member battling brain cancer, emphasizing the event’s significance as a source of support and solidarity.

It’s a good way to start your Thanksgiving, then go home and stuff yourself, shared Joe McFarland, highlighting the joyous and festive spirit surrounding the Turkey Trot.

Following the completion of the race, another exciting event awaited the participants at Pete’s Bar in Neptune Beach. It was time for Petes-giving, where hundreds of individuals dressed up as the very items they would be enjoying later in the day – their Thanksgiving feast. Laughter filled the air as runners embraced the unique and lighthearted tradition.

Kaitlin and Brody, two enthusiastic attendees, couldn’t help but express their delight. We had a fantastic time at the trot. Ran through the finish line, got our medals, and now we’re going home to eat turkey, they exclaimed, embodying the perfect balance of athleticism and festive indulgence.

In the spirit of camaraderie, first-time participants Rhiannon and Jan shared their excitement for joining the Turkey Trot. We love to be festive! It sounded pretty fun, so we sent out an email to everybody. And we don’t do anything halfway in this family, they revealed, highlighting the enduring appeal of the event and the sense of belonging it fosters.

The Tony’s Turkey Trot and Petes-giving stand as a testament to the power of tradition and community. As participants vied for the finish line and reveled in the joyful atmosphere, the true essence of Thanksgiving permeated the Beaches Town Center. With their medals proudly displayed, runners and chuggers made their way home, ready to savor a well-deserved feast.
