Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to Open Eco-Friendly Café at Baansera Park

New Delhi: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is set to unveil a new café at Baansera, the city’s innovative bamboo-themed park located on the Yamuna riverfront near Sarai Kale Khan. The cafeteria, aimed at providing a serene and eco-friendly dining experience, is expected to be completed by the end of December, according to officials.

With an indoor capacity of 80-100 people and ample outdoor seating amidst lush greenery, visitors will have the opportunity to bask in the sunlight while enjoying a refreshing meal. However, due to the implementation of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP), the construction work was temporarily halted. As soon as the directive is issued, the project will resume promptly, ensuring its timely completion.

Constructed with sustainability in mind, the café will feature a temporary lightweight structure made of mild steel and polyurethane foam roof panels. Additionally, the interior will boast wooden flooring to enhance its aesthetic appeal, providing a comfortable ambiance for patrons.

Moreover, plans for the convention center at Baansera have been unveiled. Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena announced the center’s design in September during the inauguration of the park’s musical fountain. Created by the National Buildings Construction Corporation (NBCC), the convention center will span 3,000 square feet and is slated for completion by mid-2024.

This air-conditioned facility will be a testament to ingenuity, as it will be constructed entirely out of bamboo, highlighting its versatility and eco-friendliness. It will house a spacious meeting hall and an interpretation room, ensuring it accommodates various events and gatherings. The estimated cost for this ambitious venture is Rs 2.1 crore.

The DDA official expressed optimism about increased footfall once the café becomes fully operational. The visitors will have ample space to relax, savor their meals, and behold the mesmerizing musical fountain during evening hours.

The musical fountain currently operates six days a week from Tuesday to Sunday, with two captivating shows lasting half an hour each. The initial show commences at 7:30 pm, followed by the second performance at 8:30 pm.

Admission for adults is set at Rs 50, while children up to the age of 10 and schoolchildren accompanied by parents, teachers, or guardians enjoy complimentary entry.

In recent times, our news agency has covered a range of stories of public interest. Today, we present you with this exciting development at Baansera, emphasizing the DDA’s commitment to enhancing public spaces and promoting sustainable initiatives.

As we progressively move towards creating a greener and more inclusive capital, these transformative projects will undoubtedly contribute to a more vibrant and nature-centric Delhi.

The DDA’s efforts, in collaboration with leading organizations and talented architects, promise to redefine urban spaces, making them more environmentally conscious and accessible to all.

Let us celebrate these noteworthy strides toward a greener future, nurturing our relationship with nature while embracing the innovative marvels that this city has to offer.
