Stakeholders Advocate for Gender Inclusiveness in Workplaces
Stakeholders have come together to emphasize the importance of gender inclusiveness in workplaces, urging increased support and awareness to bridge the gap in women’s representation in management positions. Recognizing the need for continuous measures and efforts to foster inclusive work environments that value and empower individuals irrespective of gender, these stakeholders gathered at the 2023 Maiden Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) conference held in Abuja.
With the theme Entrenching Equitable Opportunities For Women Towards Inclusiveness, Innovation And Excellence, the conference served as a platform to discuss strategies for achieving gender equality in professional settings.
Prof. Zainab Gobir, Executive Director of ERSP NMDPRA, highlighted the significance of providing women with more opportunities, emphasizing that doing so would contribute to the progress of the country. She encouraged women to persevere, support one another, and continue striving for betterment.
Comrade Ada Mbanaso, the National Chairperson of PENGASSAN PWC, acknowledged the government’s efforts in promoting female leadership but noted that the expected minimum of 30% inclusiveness is yet to be realized.
Mrs. Rukaiya, Special Adviser on NEC and Climate Change to the President, emphasized the importance of diversity and inclusion in fostering productive work environments. She highlighted that having varied perspectives and strengths among employees leads to innovation, problem-solving, and excellence.
Comrade Omobale Bello, NUPRC Branch PWC Chairperson, expressed hope that the conference would inspire women to achieve greater heights in their chosen careers.
The stakeholders’ call for gender inclusiveness in workplaces resonates with the global effort to ensure equal opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their gender. By recognizing the value of diverse perspectives and empowering women, organizations can foster environments that drive innovation, excellence, and societal progress.
In the pursuit of gender equality, it is crucial for all stakeholders, including government bodies, companies, and individuals, to collaborate and implement strategies that promote inclusiveness at all levels of the workforce. Only by working together can we create a truly equitable future in which every individual has an equal chance to thrive professionally and contribute their unique talents and abilities.
