Attorneys Move Forward with Court Appeal in Rejected RV Park Case
Attorneys representing the Mashantucket Pequot Tribe and Blue Camp CT, the developer behind the proposed luxury RV park near Foxwoods Resort Casino, are taking their case to court. They argue that the Planning and Zoning Commission had no grounds to reject the project 18 months ago. In a recent filing, the plaintiffs stated that the proposal adhered to all local regulations, entitling them to a special exception zoning permit. The focus of the legal brief revolved around Denise Beale, a commission member who initially expressed support for the project but ultimately voted against it. The outcome would have been different had Beale cast her vote in favor. Meanwhile, Town Attorney Kenneth Slater, representing the commission, maintained that the record contains sufficient justification for the commission’s rejection, including a petition signed by nearly 400 residents opposing the development. The court is expected to consider the case in the near future.
