Four charged over high-value cyber fraud after Aberdeenshire man targeted
Four individuals have been apprehended and charged in connection with a significant cyber fraud scheme aimed at a man in Aberdeenshire. The victim, a 59-year-old, fell victim to online financial tampering, resulting in the theft of a substantial six-figure sum of money. Following an extensive investigation, arrests were made at multiple locations, including properties in London, Leeds, and Lancashire. The charges involve three men aged 18, 33, and 47, as well as a 38-year-old woman. Police Scotland’s North East Division’s Cyber-Enabled Crime Team led the inquiry, which culminated in three days of enforcement actions. Detectives Sergeant Craig Murray from the Cyber-Enabled team emphasized Police Scotland’s commitment to safeguard the public against cyber-enabled organized crime and urged anyone with concerns or information to contact the authorities.
