While driving back to Los Angeles from a Formula 1 race in Las Vegas, the group followed Google Maps’ alternate route recommendation to avoid a dust storm that had caused a major traffic delay on the Interstate 15 highway. Little did they know that the route would lead them into Nevada’s deserts. The travellers felt trapped and had to call for rescue assistance. A towing company eventually came to their aid and helped rescue their vehicles. This incident highlights the importance of double-checking unfamiliar routes and not solely relying on GPS directions.
