A hacker who recently stole $45 million from decentralized exchange aggregator KyberSwap has reached out to negotiate with the protocol’s team. The perpetrator, who used TornadoCash to carry out the theft, stated that negotiations would take place when they were fully rested. This incident comes in the wake of an $85 million attack on the HECO chain, which was merged with the TRON blockchain by crypto mogul Justin Sun in 2022. The hacker also targeted two hot wallet owners associated with HTX, formerly known as Huobi, stealing funds in the process. Concerning connections between HTX and Binance have been highlighted, as Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao recently pleaded guilty to criminal activity. The CTO of blockchain security firm Cyvers suspects that the same party may be responsible for the attacks on HECO and HTX. These events further underscore the need for increased security measures within the crypto industry.
