JD Lodges Police Complaint Against ‘Congress Miscreants’ for Defaming H D Kumaraswamy
Bengaluru, November 22: The JD(S) party in Bengaluru has filed a police complaint against ‘Congress miscreants’ for putting up posters defaming the party’s second-in-command, H D Kumaraswamy, in different parts of the city. JD(S) city unit president H M Ramesh Gowda, former MLC Chowda Reddy Thoopalli, and party’s legal cell president A P Ranganath met with Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda to present their complaint.
In the complaint, JD(S) leaders shared the names of the alleged miscreants and demanded strict action against them for tarnishing the image of former Chief Minister Kumaraswamy. They emphasized that such actions can disrupt the peace and harmony in the city.
The Congress’ posters surfaced near Kumaraswamy’s residence after he faced an FIR for using an illegal power connection to illuminate his house during Deepavali. As a result, Kumaraswamy had to pay a fine of Rs 68,526 for the power theft and pointed the finger at the electricity contractor who facilitated the illegal connection.
Speaking on the matter, JD(S) city unit president H M Ramesh Gowda stated, We strongly condemn these defamatory posters targeted at our party leader H D Kumaraswamy. Such acts only breed animosity and disrupt the harmony of our city. We urge the police to take swift action against the culprits involved.
Former MLC Chowda Reddy Thoopalli added, It is unfortunate that some elements resort to these illegal tactics to tarnish the reputation of our leaders. We expect the police to investigate the matter thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.
As they lodged the complaint, the JD(S) leaders stressed the importance of maintaining a peaceful political atmosphere and encouraged all parties to engage in constructive dialogue rather than resorting to defamation tactics.
In response to the complaint, Bengaluru Police Commissioner B Dayananda assured them that appropriate action would be taken and that a thorough investigation would be conducted to identify the individuals responsible for putting up the posters.
The investigation will also focus on any potential links between the Congress party and the defamatory posters. The police commissioner emphasized that maintaining law and order in the city is of paramount importance and that steps will be taken to prevent any further attempts to disrupt the peace.
The JD(S) party, known for its regional influence in Karnataka, has been active in taking action against those who defame their leaders or indulge in acts that may disrupt the political landscape of the state.
As JD(S) lodges the police complaint, the city awaits the investigation’s progress and hopes for a swift resolution to the matter.
