Power Outage Leaves More Than 7,000 Without Electricity in Lake Wylie Area
Over 7,000 residents in the Lake Wylie area are currently without power, with approximately 3,500 affected customers on the North Carolina side and nearly 4,000 on the South Carolina side. Duke Energy’s outage map indicates that power is expected to be restored on the North Carolina side by 6:45 a.m., while service in South Carolina is estimated to resume by 10 a.m.
In the early hours of Wednesday morning, an object came into contact with power lines, causing the outage on the North Carolina side. Duke Energy has yet to disclose the cause of the outage on the South Carolina side.
Duke Energy spokesperson, Eric Breisacher, stated, We are working diligently to restore power to the affected customers in the Lake Wylie area. Our crews are conducting assessments and repairs, and we appreciate the patience of those impacted by this inconvenience.
Furthermore, in Catawba County, approximately 4,500 customers are currently without electricity due to a crash on Springs Road Northeast. Power is projected to be reinstated in that area by 7:15 a.m. Drivers may also encounter slow-moving traffic in the vicinity of the incident, just south of Section House Road.
