Bobby Brazier, the son of the late Jade Goody, has hinted that his upcoming performance on Strictly Come Dancing will serve as an emotional tribute to his mother. Teaming up with his professional partner Dianne Buswell, Bobby will be dancing a Couple’s choice routine to Maxwell’s heartfelt song This Woman’s Work. The pair has decided on a contemporary style with ballroom elements to honor Goody’s memory.
Speaking on the spin-off show It Takes Two alongside Fleur East, the 20-year-old revealed that the song choice deeply moved him. He described it as the perfect song, sung by the perfect man, with profound lyrics that touched him at his core. Bobby expressed his determination to deliver a powerful performance that does justice to the emotional significance of the routine.
Bobby further explained that Dianne will take on a special role in the dance. The routine will showcase his journey from childhood to the present day, with Dianne representing a woman resembling his mother. Although he hasn’t seen the complete dance yet, Bobby anticipates that it will be an emotional experience and expects there may be tears.
Dianne, too, has been struggling to contain her emotions during rehearsals. She admitted that even the first ten seconds of the routine made her well up and she couldn’t look Bobby in the eye. Despite her six-year experience on Strictly, Dianne has confessed that she has never done anything like this before and is already loving the challenge.
After narrowly escaping elimination in last week’s Blackpool special, Bobby and Dianne are determined to make a triumphant comeback. They were saved by the judges’ votes, securing their spot on the BBC show over Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington.
When Jade Goody passed away from cervical cancer at the age of 27 in 2009, Bobby was just five years old, and his brother Freddie was four. They were subsequently raised by their father, Jeff Brazier. In an exclusive interview with Metro.co.uk, Bobby expressed his belief that his mother would be proud of him, not just for his appearance on Strictly, but for everything he has achieved. He emphasized that his life is a much broader story and that everyone who knows and loves him takes pride in his accomplishments, just as his mother would.
