NHL Veteran Milan Lucic Arrested for Choking Wife in Domestic Violence Incident
Boston Bruins forward and long-time NHL veteran Milan Lucic has been arrested for domestic violence after allegedly choking his wife, according to reports from WBZ’s Tiffany Chan. Lucic’s wife called 911 and told Boston police that her husband had attacked and choked her, with sources adding that Lucic appeared to be drunk at the time of the incident.
Following his arrest, Lucic has taken an indefinite leave of absence from the team. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Tuesday in Boston Municipal Court. The Bruins released a statement on Saturday, expressing their awareness of the situation and their commitment to taking these matters seriously. The organization has also stated that they will work with Lucic’s family to provide any necessary support and assistance.
Milan Lucic, 35, is a seasoned NHL player with over 1,300 games under his belt for teams such as the Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, Edmonton Oilers, and Calgary Flames. He achieved Stanley Cup victory with Boston in 2011 and returned to the team last summer after signing a one-year free agent contract worth $1 million, with the possibility of an additional $500,000 in incentives. However, Lucic has been sidelined due to injury since October 21.
Bruins coach Jim Montgomery commented on the situation during the team’s morning skate, stating that he had not spoken to Lucic and would refrain from discussing further details out of respect for privacy. Montgomery emphasized that while it was not a normal day, the team was composed of professionals who would focus on the upcoming game.
