£60,000 Funding Available for Community Projects in Wrexham, Apply Now!

Community projects and organizations in Wrexham are being encouraged to apply for a share of £60,000 in funding through the Your Community, Your Choice initiative. This initiative, supported by the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC), North Wales Police, and the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT), aims to sponsor grassroots projects that bring people and organizations together to create a safer environment for all.

A total of 21 groups across North Wales will receive a share of the funding, with community groups in each county eligible to apply for up to £2,500 and organizations working across three or more counties able to apply for up to £5,000. The funding for Your Community, Your Choice comes from money seized by the courts through the Proceeds of Crime Act, as well as from the Police and Crime Commissioner.

Over the past 10 years, a total of £547,705 has been awarded to 174 projects in the region, all working to support the priorities outlined in the Commissioner’s Police and Crime Plan.

The application window for this year’s initiative is now open and will close on 11 December 2023. A panel consisting of the Police and Crime Commissioner, PACT, and North Wales Police representatives will choose a shortlist of applicants, and the winners will ultimately be decided by a public vote taking place in January.

North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin expressed his anticipation for a new round of innovative and inspiring project applications from across North Wales. He encouraged anyone involved in a community initiative to apply for funding to invest in their neighborhood and help reduce crime, highlighting the positive impact previous funding recipients have had on their communities.

PACT chairman Ashley Rogers expressed his pride in being a part of this ongoing initiative, emphasizing the remarkable value demonstrated by the projects receiving funding in previous years. He encouraged community organizations and projects to take advantage of this significant funding opportunity, especially considering the challenges faced in the past year.

North Wales Police Assistant Chief Constable Chris Allsop reaffirmed the commitment of the police force to foster safer neighborhoods. He underscored the significant amount of funding available through the Your Community, Your Choice initiative to support innovative ideas and projects, urging individuals and organizations passionate about their community to submit their applications. By working together, the aim is to make North Wales a more secure place for all.

The deadline for applications is fast approaching, and community groups and organizations in Wrexham are encouraged to seize this opportunity to apply for funding to support their projects and make a positive impact on their communities. The Your Community, Your Choice initiative reflects the commitment of the Police and Crime Commissioner, North Wales Police, and PACT to support grassroots initiatives that contribute to a safer and more cohesive society.

Apply now and help create a better future for Wrexham!
