Dubai, UAE – The Gulf Intervention Society’s (GIS) highly anticipated fifth annual conference concluded recently in Dubai, drawing over 1,450 participants from around the world. Held from November 16th to 18th, 2023, at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel, the conference highlighted the latest international technologies and advancements in cardiac catheterization and interventional surgeries.
International speakers, including researchers, specialists, prominent scientists, and physicians from 22 countries, gathered to share their expertise and insights. Renowned medical institutions showcased their real-world experiences, enriching the conference with invaluable practical knowledge.
The conference featured over 23 complex cases, 30 recorded cases, and 4 live transmissions from reputable healthcare facilities across the Gulf region, including facilities in Oman, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. These presentations provided a comprehensive understanding of real-world clinical scenarios and the latest interventional techniques.
During the conference, Dr. Fawaz Almutairi, Consultant Interventional Cardiologist at the National Guard Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and President of GIS, emphasized the society’s commitment to promoting artificial intelligence (AI) in cardiac care. The GIS Scientific Committee has been actively studying and applying AI techniques in the field of cardiac treatments and interventional catheter surgeries, sharing numerous clinical trials and studies with the international audience. Dr. Almutairi highlighted AI’s transformative potential in catheterization and intervention, particularly in early intervention and accurate diagnosis of heart attacks and life-threatening cardiac conditions.
The conference facilitated workshops covering a wide range of topics, including health awareness, cardiac treatments, interventional catheterization, and the latest developments in cardiac healthcare. Innovative ideas and solutions were presented by conference participants to advance the healthcare sector and serve society.
A significant moment at the conference was the signing of multiple Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) between GIS and various international associations, promoting collaboration and knowledge exchange in interventional cardiology.
