Over $290K Raised at Tech Tackles Cancer Event in Boston

Tech Tackles Cancer (TTC), an annual event organized by non-profit Hack/Reduce, has raised over $290,000 to support pediatric cancer causes. The sold-out event, held in Boston, attracted more than 400 attendees and featured a live band karaoke competition. The funds raised will benefit two philanthropies in the Boston area, St. Baldricks and One Mission, which provide support to those affected by pediatric cancer.

The event showcased the unity and generosity of the Boston technology community, with industry performers fundraising from their own networks and corporate sponsors contributing to the cause. The success of the event has surpassed all expectations, and the organization is now appealing for continued support to reach its goal of $300,000.

Christopher Lynch, the founder of TTC, expressed his gratitude to the outstanding performers, dedicated sponsors, and generous donors for their contributions. He also acknowledged the ongoing commitment of Joey Kramer’s Rockin’ and Roastin’ Coffee, which has launched a give-back program by donating a portion of its coffee sales to TTC.

Joey Kramer, a Rock and Roll Hall of Famer and founding member of Aerosmith, partnered with TTC this year. He flew in from the West Coast to attend the event and donated a drum kit to the auction. During the event, Joey expressed his commitment to making a difference, stating, Kids are dying, it’s not right, and I am here, with you, to do something about it. He also announced a VIP deal, pledging a portion of coffee sales to support Tech Tackles Cancer.

The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA, served as the venue for the event, which featured a battle of the technology rockstars. Boston-area technology executives took the stage to live out their rock-and-roll dreams, backed by a professional band.

Since its inception in 2012, Tech Tackles Cancer has raised over $3 million in donations for organizations focused on pediatric cancer treatment and research. The organization’s mission is to leverage the power of the Boston technology industry to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer causes.

Looking ahead, Tech Tackles Cancer is already gearing up for its tenth anniversary event in 2024. The date and location will be announced early next year. Individuals interested in getting involved or learning more about the cause can visit the techtacklesx.org website for additional information.

In conclusion, Tech Tackles Cancer’s ninth annual event was a tremendous success, raising over $290,000 for pediatric cancer causes. The event brought together the Boston technology community and showcased the generosity and unity of its members. With ongoing support, TTC aims to continue making a meaningful difference for charities that rely on collective support.
