The event will feature six franchises going head to head in a playoff between June 21 and July 2, with the final taking place on the latter date. The GCL will comprise a total of 36 players, including chess stars like Magnus Carlsen, Ding Liren, Hou Yifan, and TanZhongyi, who will represent the six franchises. Indian billionaire Anand Mahindra, chair of the Mahindra Group, which owns Tech Mahindra, is a sports enthusiast who has expanded his empire to include ventures such as the Mahindra Racing team, cricket leagues, and other franchises in world-leading sports teams. The GCL reflects his evolution ethos of team collaboration and innovation while fostering global business.
