Muslim Community in Edo State Hails Governor Obaseki’s Socio-Economic Development During Alaghodaro Summit
The Muslim community in Edo State has applauded Governor Godwin Obaseki for his remarkable achievements in socio-economic and infrastructural development over the past seven years. The commendation was made during the Jum’mat service at the Benin Central Mosque, as part of the activities commemorating the 7th edition of the Alaghodaro Economic Summit, which marks the 7th anniversary of Governor Obaseki’s administration.
The theme of this year’s summit is The Edo Story: Creating Shared Opportunities into the Future. Several notable Muslim individuals, including Abdul-Fatai Enabulele, the Chief Imam of Benin Central Mosque, Zubairu Dada Abubakar, Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Humanitarian Affairs, Sheik Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman of Edo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Bashiru Kadiri, former permanent secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and Tajudeen Suleiman, Chairman of Akoki-Edo Local Government Council, expressed their appreciation for the governor’s achievements during the prayer session.
Abdul-Fatai Enabulele specifically highlighted the numerous socio-economic and human-oriented policies and programs implemented by Governor Obaseki. He emphasized that the governor deserved even more accolades for his outstanding performance. Chief Imam Enabulele urged Governor Obaseki to continue his developmental efforts in the remaining part of his administration and prayed for his good health, so he can finish strong. The Chief Imam also called on whoever succeeds Governor Obaseki to build upon his successes.
Focusing on the inclusivity of the Obaseki-led government, Ibrahim Oyarekhua, Chairman of Edo State Pilgrims Welfare Board, expressed gratitude to the governor for his commitment to carrying the Muslim community along in all affairs. He acknowledged not only the visible achievements of the governor but also his efforts in ensuring the pride of Muslims in the state. Oyarekhua praised Governor Obaseki for the construction and commissioning of the world-class Muslim Hajji camp in the state, which has garnered recognition and awards for the governor as the best-serving and most Hajj-friendly governor in Nigeria and the southern states. He assured the Muslim community’s continuous spiritual and moral support for the governor and his successor.
Zubairu Dada Abubakar, Edo State Commissioner for Youths and Humanitarian Affairs, commended the Muslim community for their unwavering support for the state government. He urged them not to relent in showing their support during the remaining period of Governor Obaseki’s administration and in selecting a worthy successor who will uphold and advance his policies and programs.
Bashiru Kadiri, the former permanent secretary in the state, acknowledged Governor Obaseki’s remarkable achievements in various sectors, particularly agriculture. Recognizing the sector’s potential in boosting the state’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and internal revenue, Kadiri predicted a prosperous future for agriculture in Edo State.
The Muslim community’s appreciation for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s commendable socio-economic and infrastructural development highlights the inclusive approach of his administration and the significant impact his policies have had on the lives of the people. With the Alaghodaro Summit serving as a testament to the progress made so far, the Muslim faithfuls have pledged their continued support to ensure a successful conclusion to Governor Obaseki’s term in office and a seamless transition to his successor.
