NMC Seeks State Opinions on Simultaneous Medical Counselling

The National Medical Commission (NMC) is requesting opinions from states regarding the simultaneous medical counselling for MBBS and BDS seats to prevent vacancies, according to Health Minister Ma Subramanian. The NMC has proposed to conduct the All India and state counselling concurrently this year, and the sale of applications will likely begin in a week. Several states, including Tamil Nadu, have requested at least a month’s time to prepare the list of applicants before beginning simultaneous counselling. This year, 500 more MBBS seats were added, with 450 being in private medical colleges, and 50 BDS seats at the Government Pudukottai Dental College in Tamil Nadu. The state has requested the National Testing Agency to provide a list of 68,823 students who did not qualify to provide counselling. NEET-UG students who did not pass will have access to a 104 helpline offering psychological support. Ma Su also highlighted the successes of Tamil Nadu in NEET and reaffirmed the government’s ongoing fight against it.
