The Food Processing Industries Ministry in India recently held a roundtable with heads of foreign missions to discuss overseas participation in the second edition of the World Food India event. The event is set to take place from November 3 to November 5, 2021, at Pragati Maidan in the national capital to showcase the Indian food processing sector. The ministry hopes to attract global stakeholders to collaborate and invest in the industry.
The roundtable was attended by senior representatives from 47 countries, including Ambassadors and High Commissioners. During the meeting, participants were informed about the preparations for the event and the opportunities available to participating countries and businesses. They were also made aware of the significance of the event in the existing global food scenario.
The event is being organised as part of International Year of Millets 2023 activities, with millets, organic produce, and indigenous processed food as some of the focus areas. The Food Processing Ministry, the Ministry of External Affairs, the Department of Commerce, APEDA, MPEDA, and other Commodity Boards, as well as organisations associated with organising the event, all participated in the discussions.
The representatives of the foreign embassies appreciated the importance of the event in the global food industry and assured their countries’ active participation. They also ensured the presence of a strong food processing sectoral contingent from their respective countries.
This event could be a major turning point for the food processing industry in India. By showcasing what the country has to offer and welcoming collaboration and investment, the industry could see significant progress in the coming years.
