A fresh probe against DMK leader and Tamil Nadu state minister Senthil Balaji was launched on the order of the Supreme Court, according to BJP’s state spokesperson Narayanan Thirupathy. Balaji was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money-laundering case, which triggered accusations of vendetta and political harassment from various opposition parties, including the DMK. Thirupathy questioned Chief Minister MK Stalin’s opposition to the arrest and wondered what compelled him to challenge the Supreme Court order. The BJP leader also questioned the support for Balaji in a cash-for-jobs scam. The CM alleged that the ED had tortured the minister during the interrogation, which led to chest pains and questioned the need for support for a person involved in a scam. Balaji was questioned after the central probe agency raided his premises on Tuesday.
