Former Pender High School Basketball Star Ky’rese Dye Passes Away in Tragic Car Accident
In a devastating turn of events, former Pender High School student and basketball star, Ky’rese Dye, lost his life in a tragic car crash. The 18-year-old, who hailed from Currie, had been a part of the honors program at Shaw University.
The accident occurred on Tuesday night in Raleigh, resulting in Dye’s demise, while the driver of the vehicle sustained severe injuries. Shaw University promptly released a statement, informing the campus community about the untimely passing of Ky’rese Anthony Dye. The university expressed deep sorrow over the loss of one of their students.
Pender High School, where Dye had graduated from, also paid tribute to their beloved former student. They described Ky’rese as an incredible contributor, leader, friend, and Pender Patriot. Furthermore, they acknowledged his positive attitude and highlighted his role as a class act. The high school community mourned the loss and extended heartfelt condolences to Dye’s family and friends.
Having played basketball for the Pender Patriots last year, Dye had gone on to become a member of Shaw University’s junior varsity team. He showcased his exceptional talent and passion for the sport throughout his journey.
To honor Ky’rese Dye’s memory and celebrate his life, a special service will take place at the Pender High School gymnasium in Burgaw on Sunday, November 5th, at 2 p.m. Although there will not be a public viewing, this gathering will bring together family, friends, and the community to pay their respects and bid farewell to the beloved athlete.
