Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule has reacted to the recent raids and action taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji. In response to the ED’s handling of Balaji’s probe, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut also criticized the BJP government, claiming that complaints against their Ministers are being ignored.
Sule stated that she was not surprised at all by the ED’s action against Balaji. She referred to the allegation that 95% of those being targeted by the central agencies are from the opposition, as claimed by most opposition parties. They maintain that the central government misuses these central probe agencies to target and suppress opposition politicians.
Sanjay Raut supported the allegations made by the opposition and claimed that despite sending complaints against BJP ministers, he never received a response from the ED. He said, We keep sending complaints against their (BJP) people, with evidence. When will the probe against them start?
The Tamil Nadu Minister was admitted to a hospital in Chennai where he underwent a coronary angiogram after complaining of chest pain during questioning by the ED. His supporters gathered outside the hospital to protest against the ED action and were seen crying as the DMK minister was brought into the hospital.
The opposition parties have been critical of the use of central probe agencies by the BJP government, alleging that they are being used to suppress and target opposition leaders. The recent raids and probe against Tamil Nadu Minister Senthil Balaji have fuelled these allegations further and have led to widespread criticism.
