Sharjah Entrepreneurship Centre (Sheraa) has recently announced the top 10 start-ups for their 5th edition of ‘Access Sharjah Challenge’ (ASC). The competition aims to identify and support the most innovative start-ups addressing significant environmental issues in line with the UAE naming 2023 The Year of Sustainability. The shortlisting process brought forward 10 successful start-ups representing eight different countries, which collectively raised $25.4 million. The finalists for BEEAH Group’s ‘Transforming Waste Management’ challenge were shortlisted from startups worldwide who developed solutions to support on-site waste treatment and segregation. The five shortlisted start-ups are Clean Robotics from the USA, Candam Technologies SL from Spain, Bin-e from Poland, Compocity from Hungary, and Ishitva Robotic Systems Pvt Ltd from India. The ‘Achieving Net Zero’ challenge, in partnership with Sharjah Sustainable City, sought innovative solutions for cities to achieve a carbon-neutral footprint. The five finalists were Green Future Project from UAE, Gander from Isle of Man, Eevie GmbH from Germany, Nadeera Technologies LTD from UAE, and TerGo from Poland. The selected start-ups will be awarded exclusive commercial deals valued at AED 250,000 and business set-up support, contributing to the emirate’s economy and job creation, and participating in the UAE’s Year of Sustainability initiatives. Winners for each partner challenge will be declared on 20th June 2023 at the Sheraa Sustainability Forum.
