The Great Indian Rescue, an upcoming feature film starring Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and Parineeti Chopra, is set to hit theatres on October 5th, according to the film’s producers. Inspired by the heroic actions of mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill, who saved 64 miners from a flooded quarry in West Bengal in 1989, the film is produced by Pooja Entertainment and directed by Tinu Suresh Desai, who previously worked with Kumar on 2016’s Rustom.
Hoping to replicate the critical and commercial success of the duo’s previous collaboration, 2019’s Kesari, the film’s producers have high hopes for The Great Indian Rescue. The story of Jaswant Singh Gill, who was awarded numerous honors for his bravery in rescuing the miners, is one of the most inspiring tales of heroism in recent Indian history.
The film’s release date announcement was accompanied by praise for the late Mr. Gill from producer Vashu Bhagnani. Speaking to reporters, he said that Mr. Gill’s selfless act of bravery and heroism is an inspiration for all of us, and we hope that this film will introduce his amazing story to a new generation of moviegoers.
Though details of the film’s plot have not been revealed, The Great Indian Rescue promises to be one of the most anticipated films of the year, thanks to the star power of Kumar and Chopra, and the inspiring story that serves as its inspiration.
