The Public Works Department (PWD) of Jaipur, Rajasthan, has taken up a major project to connect 1,782 villages in the state. The department is working tirelessly to lay down fresh roads that will connect these villages to the main throughfare or the state and national highways. This project will bring a big change in the lives of villagers as they will have easy access to the world outside their own.
Sanjiv Mathur, chief engineer of the state PWD, said that 60% of the job should be completed by the end of the year. The department has also approved work on another 6,016 projects. Officials also clarified that their primary focus was on the desert and tribal areas of the state, as these areas lack basic connectivity, thus hampering development.
This connectivity project is expected to make big strides towards bringing much-needed progress and development to the state’s tribal regions. Majority of villages will be connected before the forthcoming assembly polls, thereby enhancing the possibilities of significant improvements in living conditions and infrastructure.
