In an impressive display of skill and dominance, the Tehachapi Warriors football team has emerged victorious, clinching the South Yosemite Mountain League (SYML) championship with an undefeated record. They sealed their triumph with a resounding 38-13 victory over West, highlighting their exceptional performance throughout the regular season.
Boasting a perfect 10-0 record and a remarkable average margin of victory of 34 points per game, the Warriors have been a force to be reckoned with. Their potent offense has outscored their opponents by a staggering 425-86, leaving no room for doubt that this team is a true powerhouse.
The game against West was nothing short of a masterclass in football. Tehachapi’s defense, led by standout players such as Adrian Navarro, Tylere Lombardi, and Liddon Scott, stifled the opposition, allowing only two net yards of offense and zero first downs in the first half. The Warriors’ relentless pursuit of excellence was evident as they forced two fumble recoveries, courtesy of Logan Miles and Andrew Aguirre.
AJ Anderson spearheaded the ground game for Tehachapi, making significant contributions with two touchdowns and 62 yards rushing. Mike Jones also added 55 yards rushing and a touchdown, further solidifying the team’s dominance on the field. Jacob Root showcased his passing prowess, connecting with Aguirre for an 18-yard touchdown reception and accumulating 54 yards passing for the game. The receiving corps, including Kaleb Songer and Cyler Hoofard, made crucial catches that contributed to the team’s success.
The special teams unit played a vital role in the Warriors’ victory as well. Carter Kolesar notched a 36-yard field goal early in the first quarter, setting the tone for the game. Anderson sealed the deal with an electrifying 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown, elevating the lead even further in the third quarter.
With this achievement, Tehachapi has secured their first undefeated regular season in the 21st century. This feat places them among the elite ranks of only eight other Tehachapi teams to have accomplished this extraordinary milestone. The previous unbeaten seasons were in 1997, 1993, 1981, 1980, 1973, 1956, and 1951.
This league championship marks the 32nd in the school’s history, adding yet another illustrious chapter to the storied legacy of Mountain Football.
Looking ahead, the Warriors will have a bye week before facing the CIF Central Section playoffs next Friday, November 3rd. Fans and supporters eagerly await the playoff bracket announcements, which will provide insight into Tehachapi’s path to further glory.
