Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Vehicle in Palm Beach County

A tragic incident occurred in Palm Beach County, Florida, where a 75-year-old man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office announced that William Arthur Redman, a resident of the area, passed away two days after the accident.

The crash took place on Thursday at approximately 10:17 p.m. on Michaelangelo Boulevard, just west of Delray Beach. According to the crash report, a 93-year-old woman from the same neighborhood was driving a 2006 Honda Accord northbound on Michaelangelo Boulevard at the time of the incident.

As the Honda continued its journey, it collided with Redman, who was either walking or standing within the roadway or shoulder. The impact occurred when the front right side of the vehicle hit him. Immediately following the accident, Palm Beach County Fire Rescue rushed to the scene and transported Redman to Delray Medical Center for medical attention.

Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical professionals, Redman’s injuries proved fatal, and he passed away on Saturday, two days after the collision, as confirmed by the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety, particularly for pedestrians and elderly individuals. Florida, with its warm weather and retiree population, has seen a rise in accidents involving elderly pedestrians in recent years. It is crucial for both drivers and pedestrians to exercise caution and adhere to traffic rules to prevent such devastating accidents.

Authorities are still investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and circumstances leading to the collision. Any further updates will be provided as the investigation progresses.

In the wake of this unfortunate event, our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of William Arthur Redman. It is our collective responsibility to foster a culture of road safety and vigilance to prevent similar tragedies from occurring in the future.
