One Person Dead and Two Arrested in Fatal Shootout in Córdoba
A fatal shootout in the Quintas de San Jorge neighborhood of Córdoba has resulted in the death of a 20-year-old man and the arrest of two individuals. Last Monday at noon, a violent confrontation between members of two feuding families took place on the street, which quickly escalated into a fierce shootout. The young man was tragically shot in the head and succumbed to his injuries at the emergency hospital.
Following the incident, prosecutor Andrés Godoy took charge of the investigation and brought forth accusations against the suspects involved. Roberto Ramón Vega (68) has been accused as the alleged perpetrator of aggravated homicide through the use of a firearm. Additionally, Yanina Vega has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm. While Yanina has already been detained, Roberto is currently receiving treatment at the emergency hospital for a gunshot wound to his abdomen. His condition is delicate, and he remains under custody.
In response to the fatal shootout, the prosecutor has ordered the arrest of additional suspects, and the Homicide Department of the Córdoba Police, in collaboration with the Judicial Homicide Unit, is actively working on the case.
According to sources familiar with the incident, the violent clash began when a young man initiated an argument with his rivals. It is believed that the argument led to the group moving towards a residence in an attempt to settle their differences, resulting in the exchange of gunfire. The house in question was occupied by both men and women who are thought to have participated in the altercation.
During the chaos, another young man named Facundo Ezequiel Belén (20) bravely intervened to put an end to the conflict. Tragically, he was shot in the head and rushed to the Emergency Hospital, where medical professionals were unable to save him.
Meanwhile, the owner of the residence, Ramón Vega (68), sustained two gunshot wounds to the abdomen as a result of the confrontation.
Multiple pistol bullet casings were discovered at the scene of the incident, and the house itself displayed multiple bullet impacts.
The police investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to bring all those involved in this fatal shootout to justice. As the community mourns the loss of a young life, the focus remains on seeking answers and ensuring that such incidents do not recur.
