Canon India has launched a new initiative called ‘Clean Coasts for Tomorrow’, which focuses on preserving the marine ecosystem through beach cleaning drives. The initiative was kickstarted with a cleaning drive at Aksa Beach in Mumbai, in collaboration with Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting coastal resources and marine ecosystems, especially among the youth of the country.
Canon India’s President and CEO, Mr. Manabu Yamazaki, expressed his commitment towards a better and sustainable environment for the future generation, guided by their corporate philosophy of ‘Kyosei’. He also highlighted the importance of involving the youth in the campaign to educate them about the significance of reducing plastic and marine litter.
The beach cleanliness campaign is the latest in a series of environmental initiatives taken up by Canon India. As part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), they have been involved in community welfare programs aligned with the four E’s policy – Education, Eye Care, Environment, and Empowerment. They have also installed solar panels, introduced groundwater recharge and rainwater harvesting projects, conducted regular cleanliness drives and tree plantations as part of their Adopt a Village initiative.
Furthermore, Canon India’s ‘Green Environment Together’ initiative has seen the planting of over 30,000 trees since 2019. Under this project, a tree is planted on the purchase of a laser copier/multi-function device (MFD) on behalf of direct customers. Canon India intends to continue bringing in meaningful change through persistent collaborative action and driving awareness about the cause across the country with time.
