Sips Bar in Barcelona Named World’s Best for Second Consecutive Year, Creating Unfussy and Immersive Cocktail Experience
Sips, a popular drinkery house in Barcelona, has once again secured the title of World’s Best Bar for the year 2023. Located in the L’Antiga Esquerra de l’Eixample district, Sips topped this year’s prestigious World’s 50 Best Bars list, making it the second consecutive year that a Barcelona establishment has claimed this accolade. Paradiso, another Barcelona gem, clinched the title in 2022.
The announcement took place at a grand ceremony in Singapore, where judges commended Sips for its innovative and playful concept of a bar without a bar. Unlike traditional counters, bartenders at Sips serve drinks from a futuristic workstation, showcasing an unfussy yet immersive experience for patrons. According to a press release by World’s 50 Best, Sips seamlessly combines contemporary innovation and technical precision with warm hospitality, resulting in a truly multi-sensory drinking adventure.
Securing the runner-up position on the World’s Best Bar list is New York’s Double Chicken Please, which recently earned the title of North America’s Best Bar. The third spot went to Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City.
London has solidified its reputation as one of the world’s cocktail capitals, with an impressive five bars making it onto this year’s list. Notably, Connaught Bar rose three places to claim the fifth spot, while Tayēr + Elementary secured the eighth position.
The United States also had a notable presence on the list, with five bars making the cut. Among them are New York’s Double Chicken Please, Overstory, and Katana Kitten, along with Miami’s Café La Trova, and New Orleans’ Jewel of the South.
The 2023 World’s Best Bars list showcases establishments from 28 cities around the world. Votes were cast by members of The World’s 50 Best Bars Academy, which comprises over 600 experts including bartenders, mixologists, restaurant consultants, and spirits writers. This highly anticipated list and awards ceremony aim to recognize visionary bartenders, innovative bar owners, and groundbreaking brands that shape cocktail culture worldwide.
