Turkish President Urges De-escalation in Israel-Palestine Conflict, Intensive Efforts for Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called for the de-escalation of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine, emphasizing the need for regional and global peace. In a phone conversation with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Erdogan expressed Turkey’s commitment to making intensive efforts in delivering humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The situation in Gaza remains dire as the conflict enters its tenth day, with the Israeli bombardment and blockade causing widespread displacement and a humanitarian crisis. According to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, over 1 million people, nearly half of Gaza’s population, have been displaced.

The Gaza Strip is experiencing severe shortages of electricity, water, food, fuel, and medical supplies. Civilians are being forced to flee to the south following Israeli warnings to evacuate northern areas. The United Nations has warned that the situation is worsening, and urgent action is needed to address the humanitarian crisis.

The conflict began when the Palestinian group Hamas launched a surprise attack called Operation Al-Aqsa Flood, which included rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel. Hamas claimed the attack was in retaliation for the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and increased settler violence. In response, Israel launched Operation Swords of Iron, targeting Hamas within the Gaza Strip.

The number of Palestinians killed in Israeli airstrikes on Gaza has risen to 2,750, including 750 children. The escalating violence has raised international concern and calls for immediate de-escalation.

President Erdogan highlighted the importance of avoiding steps that increase tension and instead called for positive actions that could contribute to a permanent solution in the Israel-Palestine conflict. He emphasized the need for international efforts to end the conflicts and address the urgent humanitarian needs of the people in Gaza.

As the crisis continues, Turkish President Erdogan’s call for de-escalation and intensified efforts for humanitarian aid reflects the global concern over the conflict’s impact on innocent lives. The international community must unite to find a peaceful resolution and provide the necessary support to alleviate the suffering of the people in Gaza.
