Telangana, a southern state in India, has been hailed as a model state for the entire country in terms of women’s welfare initiatives. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K.T. Rama Rao made this statement during the state’s Formation Day celebrations, which included Women’s Welfare Day.
In a series of tweets, Rao noted that the Telangana government has taken extensive measures to support women at every stage of their lives, from newborns to the elderly. He emphasized how women are not just half of welfare but the key part of it.
The government has provided nutrition kits to pregnant women, residential schools for girls, and training programs for women entrepreneurs. The state police’s She Teams act as a protective shield for girls, and widows and single women receive monthly pensions. Additionally, the government has implemented a 50% reservation for women in local institutions and provided financial assistance for young girls’ marriages through the Kalyana Lakshmi scheme.
Rao said that Telangana has no competition when it comes to the welfare of women and their empowerment. He ended his tweet series by emphasizing that having a baby girl is like having the goddess Lakshmi in the house and outlined the steps taken by the government to create a healthy Telangana.
