Cyclone ‘Biparjoy’ is set to impact 12 districts in Rajasthan from June 15, according to the Meteorological Centre. The Railways has cancelled some of the trains travelling from Rajasthan to Porbandar, Bhuj, Okha, and Gandhidham in Gujarat, due to the intensity of the cyclone. ‘Biparjoy’ is expected to hit Gujarat and Pakistan on June 15, before converting into a deep depression over parts of Gujarat, and then a low-pressure area over southwestern parts of Rajasthan. Although there is less of a chance for damage in Rajasthan, heavy rainfall is expected for two days in some areas. The wind speed of the cyclone will also decrease while it reaches Rajasthan, but experts warn that due to high moisture levels, there could be heavy rainfall from 60 to 100 mm in many places for two days. Some of the affected districts include Banswara, Dungarpur, Udaipur, Sirohi, Jalore, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, and Chittorgarh. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for these districts. Thunderstorms and rain are expected from June 15 to June 17 in Rajasthan, starting from noon on June 15.
