Tippecanoe’s Fast-Paced Offense Dominates Stebbins in Best Game Yet
In a thrilling display of fast-paced offense, the Tippecanoe Red Devils demonstrated their prowess on the football field, leading to what many are calling their best game of the season. The Red Devils put on a show against Stebbins, scoring six touchdowns in the first half and securing a resounding 46-0 victory in the Miami Valley League.
The team’s strong emphasis on playing fast from the outset paid off handsomely. Senior running back Cael Liette shared, We’ve been emphasizing coming out and just playing 48 consistent minutes… But I think this game, we definitely proved that we can roll for 48 minutes. The Red Devils’ quick-tempo offense has become their identity, and they wasted no time showcasing it against Stebbins.
It took just nine plays and a mere 2 minutes and 33 seconds for Tippecanoe to drive 59 yards and score their first touchdown. Liette’s 13-yard run put them ahead 6-0. Led by quarterback Peyton Schultz, the team executed plays swiftly, often catching Stebbins off guard. The tempo forced Stebbins to scramble defensively, unable to match Tippecanoe’s lightning-quick pace. Coach Matt Burgbacher explained, We wanted to play fast because they do so many different things defensively to where it could be confusing… They weren’t able to get set up defensively.
Stebbins, quarterbacked by freshman Devin McCormick, struggled to keep up with Tippecanoe’s relentless offense. Despite picking up a first down early in the game, they were soon forced to punt. Tippecanoe seized the opportunity, and on the very first play after the punt, Cael Liette burst through the left side for an impressive 58-yard touchdown run, his longest of the season.
Liette wasn’t done there. He added a two-yard touchdown and finished the first half with an impressive 130 yards on 18 carries, making it his second 100-yard game of the season. With a commanding 43-0 halftime lead, he didn’t even need to carry the ball in the second half. Schultz also had a stellar performance, completing 12 of 18 passes for 180 yards and throwing three touchdowns.
The Red Devils’ dominance extended beyond their offense. They outgained Stebbins with a whopping 402 total yards compared to Stebbins’ 127. It was a complete team effort that showcased their growth and improvement throughout the season. Coach Burgbacher expressed his satisfaction, stating, That was the most complete game we played all year… It’s good in week nine to be playing your best football, and we’re doing that.
Looking ahead, Tippecanoe is preparing to face Xenia in their final game of the season. With a solid record and a playoff spot already secured, the team is determined to showcase their strength and finish the season strong. Cael Liette exclaimed, This is the perfect time to show everyone Tipp’s a strong team and that we’re ready… We’re ready and we’re going to come out guns blazing.
The Tippecanoe Red Devils’ dominant performance against Stebbins is a testament to their improvement and dedication. As they head into their final game, they aim to continue their winning streak and solidify their position as a strong contender in the Miami Valley League.
