Shocking Incident at South African Church: Eyewitness Describes Gunman’s Grim Actions

A devastating event unfolded at the Eagle Christian Center in Newlands, South Africa, as a rising star preacher, 22-year-old Dwayne Gordon, was fatally shot during a church service. Eyewitnesses have revealed that the gunman did not allow anyone to pray for the young preacher as he bled to death, adding a chilling dimension to this tragic situation.

The incident occurred on Friday, interrupting the church’s Restoration Conference, for which Gordon was a special guest speaker. Six gunmen stormed into the church, initiating a harrowing ordeal that was partially captured on the church’s social media livestream.

Bishop Randal Coetzee, a minister at Eagle Christian Center who was present at the service, recounted the events. The gunmen entered the church and forced the congregants to the floor. It was during this chaos that Gordon made eye contact with the man who would later take his life. Without warning, the gunman lifted his gun and fired in their direction. Moments later, the young preacher was struggling for breath, and the congregants were unable to assist him due to the presence of the armed assailant.

According to Coetzee, some ministers tried to pray for Gordon as he choked on his own blood, but the shooter strictly forbid anyone from doing so. Those who defied his orders and attempted to pray for the dying pastor were shot themselves. The tragic incident left two others wounded, including 39-year-old Sebastian Mosale.

While Coetzee believes the shooting was a result of a botched robbery, controversial multimillionaire preacher Shepherd Bushiri claims that Gordon’s murder is part of a larger pattern. Bushiri, who fled South Africa in 2020 after being charged with fraud and money laundering, alleges that fellow pastors who are jealous of rising stars within the religious community are responsible for these pulpit killings—a shocking accusation.

Zambian televangelist Prophet Isaac Kabamba, also residing in South Africa, supports Bushiri’s claims, suggesting that Gordon’s popularity among followers threatened other local churches in a country plagued by economic challenges and high poverty rates.

The untimely demise of Dwayne Gordon has left a void in the religious community, and investigations by South African police are ongoing. As the nation mourns yet another tragic loss, it is essential to unravel the truth behind these pulpit killings, bringing justice and a sense of security to all those involved in preaching the word of God.
