Robertsdale High School Football Coach Relieved of Duties After 0-6 Start
Robertsdale, Alabama: Kyle Stanford, the head football coach at Robertsdale High School, has been relieved of his coaching duties after the team’s disappointing 0-6 start to the season. The decision was made by Principal Shay White following the Golden Bears’ loss to Murphy last week.
Stanford, who had been with the Robertsdale program for five years, will continue to serve as the school’s athletic director. In the Baldwin County Schools system, the roles of head football coach and athletic director are combined.
In a meeting with the Golden Bears football team, Stanford addressed his departure, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to coach the team. It has been an unbelievable honor to serve as the Head Football Coach for the past five years, he said in a statement posted on social media. Knowing that I represented Robertsdale High, the City of Robertsdale and the entire Central Baldwin community is something that I cherished and took seriously.
Robertsdale’s disappointing season has been marked by a series of losses, including a recent defeat against Murphy, which marked the Panthers’ first win of the year. Under Stanford’s leadership, the team struggled to find success, with a record of 8-37 in his five years as head coach.
Looking ahead, Robertsdale has three away games before concluding their season at home against Baldwin County. The team’s next match will be against St. Paul’s, followed by games against Spanish Fort and Mary G. Montgomery.
Before his tenure at Robertsdale High School, Stanford served as the defensive coordinator at Olive Branch High School in Mississippi for three seasons. He is a 2007 graduate of Ole Miss.
The decision to relieve Stanford of his coaching duties has generated mixed reactions from the community. While some believe a change was necessary to improve the team’s performance, others express gratitude for Stanford’s dedication and service.
As the season continues, the Robertsdale Golden Bears will search for a new head football coach to lead them into the future. The team will strive to finish the season on a positive note and work towards regaining their competitive edge.
