Madhu Lilothia, the wife of former Congress MLA Rajesh Lilothia, was killed in a road accident in Delhi on Monday morning. The incident took place in North Delhi’s Kashmere Gate area, where a speeding SUV hit the victim’s car. The SUV’s driver fled the scene immediately after the incident, but he has been arrested and booked for causing death by negligence and rash driving. The accused has been identified as Zainul, a resident of Seelampur.
According to DCP North Sagar Singh Kalsi, Madhu Lilothia was taken to a hospital after the accident, where the doctors declared her brought dead. The police have registered a case under IPC sections 279 (Rash driving) and 304 (Causing death by negligence) against the accused SUV driver and are further investigating the case.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the Congress party, and several leaders have expressed their condolences to Rajesh Lilothia and his family. Madhu Lilothia was a resident of Anand Parvat and was 55 years old at the time of the accident.
