Tragedy struck off the coast of Mumbai’s Juhu beach as four boys drowned while playing in the Arabian Sea. The victims, aged between 12-15, hailed from Vakola, Santacruz East. One boy was rescued by locals, while the other four are still missing. BMC Disaster Control reported that the incident took place around 500 meters from the shore at 5:30 pm, amid choppy waters and high waves caused by cyclonic conditions. The Mumbai Fire Brigade and divers have been engaged in the search operation for nearly three hours, using jet skis and life-jackets. Given the situation, the Navy chopper joined the search around 8:30 pm, while the civic administration sought assistance from the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, despite high tides disrupting the process. Earlier, weather and civic authorities had warned people and fisherfolk not to venture out into the rough sea. The tragedy has moved locals and authorities alike and serves as a grim reminder of the ocean’s unforgiving nature.
