Israeli Occupation’s Crimes in Gaza: Palestinian Pleas for Help Ignored
Israeli forces continue to face accusations of committing crimes against Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip, as pleas for help from the Palestinian people appear to go unanswered by the international community. The commander-in-chief of Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades, Mohammed Deif, has condemned the Israeli occupation for its actions, citing violations of international norms, laws, and human rights conventions.
Deif emphasized that the Israeli occupation has not only destroyed Palestinian towns and villages but has also committed hundreds of massacres against the Palestinian people, resulting in the deaths of innocent children, women, and elderly individuals. He further criticized the Israeli occupation for demolishing homes with inhabitants still inside, actions that flagrantly disregard international law and resolutions.
Despite previous warnings issued by Palestinian leaders, the Israeli occupation has not heeded their demands, and world leaders have failed to take decisive action. Instead, the Israeli occupation has intensified its crimes, particularly in occupied Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque – a site of great significance for Muslims worldwide. Israeli forces have repeatedly raided the Al-Aqsa Mosque, desecrating sacred sites and viciously attacking worshippers, including women, children, and the elderly.
Furthermore, the Israeli occupation has forbidden Palestinian citizens from accessing the Al-Aqsa Mosque, while facilitating the entry of Israeli settlers who continue to defile the holy site through daily raids. These settlers have even performed religious rituals and prayers, declaring their intentions to build a temple on the ruins of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. In addition to insulting Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) within the holy compound, they have torn up the Quran and brought dogs into the sacred space.
The Israeli colonial settlers are relentless in their attempts to alter the status quo, frequently attacking Palestinian citizens of occupied Jerusalem and seizing their homes and property. This relentless assault on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, from which Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is believed to have ascended to heaven, demonstrates a blatant disregard for Muslim history and heritage.
Tragically, the Israeli occupation’s crimes have resulted in the deaths and injuries of hundreds of Palestinians this year alone, while thousands of Palestinian detainees continue to endure heinous forms of oppression, torture, and humiliation in Israeli prisons. Many prisoners have been held for over two decades, others face debilitating diseases, and several have died due to medical negligence and deliberate slow-death policies.
Interestingly, despite Palestinian calls for a humanitarian swap deal, the Israeli occupation has rejected these appeals outright. Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces consistently raid Palestinian towns and villages in the occupied West Bank, subjecting inhabitants to further violence and detention.
The dire situation in Gaza demands immediate attention and action from the international community. The continued loss of innocent lives, the destruction of Palestinian homes, and the violations of human rights cannot be ignored. It is crucial that world leaders condemn the Israeli occupation’s crimes and pressure them to comply with international law and resolutions. Only then can justice prevail and peace be restored to this troubled region.
