Supreme Audit Institutions have a significant responsibility to ensure good governance, transparency, and accountability in the audit of Blue Economy and Responsible Artificial Intelligence (AI), according to India’s G20 Sherpa, Amitabh Kant. Speaking on the relevance of these issues to securing Artificial Intelligence (SAI), Kant emphasized the importance of incorporating ethical considerations into the development of AI. Although AI is an area of innovation, excitement, and fear, Kant underscored the need for ongoing dialogue around potential ethical issues without relying on formal government regulation. The G20 meeting will provide an opportunity for CAGs to make recommendations on how to move forward with both issues.
Kant also affirmed the supremacy of Audit Institutions’ role in these two critical issues: Blue Economy and AI. He stated that the Audit Institutions’ engagement group is currently discussing the impact of generative intelligence in the context of these two issues. He further emphasized that Blue Economy and Artificial Intelligence are significant issues, and their positive impact on humanity should be optimized.
