A tragic incident unfolded at the Kashmere Gate ISBT in Delhi, as a woman succumbed to her injuries after being allegedly hit by a bus. The incident took place on Monday when the victim, identified as Indu, was heading to a restroom in the bus terminal. Indu, a resident of Noida, Uttar Pradesh, was rushed to a hospital in Delhi where she tragically passed away at around 2.30 am on Tuesday.

Following the incident, Indu’s husband, Karamveer Kumar, promptly reported the incident to the police. He stated that a Punjab Roadways bus collided with his wife at the Kashmere Gate ISBT around 10.30 am on Monday. The authorities wasted no time and arrested the bus driver, identified as Inder Jeet Singh.

A case has been registered against Singh under sections 279 (rash driving) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). However, after the victim’s tragic demise, section 304A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC has been added to the FIR.

To unravel the sequence of events and ensure justice for the victim, the police have launched a thorough investigation into the matter. The body of the deceased has been handed over to her grieving husband after completion of the post-mortem.

This unfortunate incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for drivers to exercise utmost caution. It is a tragic loss of life that could have been prevented, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules and regulations.

The authorities must seize this opportunity to review and strengthen measures to ensure the safety of pedestrians and commuters at busy terminals and intersections. Additionally, public awareness campaigns and education about road safety need to be intensified to promote responsible driving and prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time. May her soul rest in peace, and may justice be served.
