Condoleezza Rice to Headline Fundraiser for Hoover Presidential Library
Former U.S. Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice, will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at a fundraiser event organized by the Hoover Presidential Foundation for the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum. The event will take place on October 27 at the DoubleTree by Hilton in downtown Cedar Rapids.
The foundation’s main objective is to promote and support the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library and Museum, as well as programs that foster understanding of Herbert Hoover’s presidency and humanitarian efforts. Herbert Hoover, the only U.S. president born in Iowa, grew up in West Branch.
Condoleezza Rice, currently serving as the director of the Hoover Institution and a senior fellow on public policy at Stanford University, will join Margaret Hoover, the host of the PBS series Firing Line with Margaret Hoover, on stage for an armchair discussion about Rice’s career.
In addition to the keynote speakers, the foundation will also honor two Iowa state legislators during the event.
Condoleezza Rice, who served as U.S. Secretary of State from 2005 to 2009 under former President George W. Bush, holds the distinction of being the first Black woman to hold the position. She was also the first woman to serve as national security adviser.
