Game of Thrones Actor Appears in Court for Alleged Online Conversations with a Minor
British actor Joseph Gatt, known for his role as Thenn Warg on Game of Thrones, recently appeared in a Los Angeles court on charges of engaging in explicit online conversations with a minor. Accompanied by his actress girlfriend Mercy Malick, Gatt pleaded not guilty to the charges of contact with a minor for sexual offense and felony possession of an assault weapon.
In April 2022, Gatt was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his property. The investigation into his alleged online activities began following a tip received by the LAPD’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. Police discovered that Gatt had an outstanding felony warrant related to a similar offense involving a minor.
During the court appearance, Gatt maintained a somber demeanor as the hearing was adjourned to December, allowing prosecutors more time for additional discovery. The judge, Enrique Monguia, also set Gatt’s bail at $5,000, which he had previously posted.
As part of his bail conditions, Gatt is prohibited from unsupervised contact with minors, possessing pornography, and using social media except for work purposes. Following his arrest, Gatt took to social media to vehemently deny the charges, asserting that they were absolutely horrifying and completely untrue. He expressed his full cooperation with the police and LAPD to clear his name.
Gatt’s career includes appearances on popular TV shows like Teen Wolf, The 100, and Banshee, as well as movie credits in Thor and Star Trek Into Darkness. However, these recent allegations have cast a shadow on his reputation and future prospects in the entertainment industry.
While the case continues to unfold, Gatt’s appearance in court serves as a reminder of the serious consequences that individuals may face when involved in online conversations of a sexual nature with minors. The legal system is actively prosecuting such offenses, working tirelessly to protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. We await the further developments of this case as it progresses through the legal process.
