A 21-year-old man from Yorktown, New York, is facing additional felony charges after allegedly using a stolen all-terrain vehicle (ATV) to run down a man at a local baseball field. According to police, Kyle Frankild surrendered himself to the Yorktown Police Department on Thursday, September 28, to face these new charges.

The incident took place on Sunday, August 27, at around 2:45 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a man, identified as Ed Moffett, being struck by an ATV and rendered unconscious at a baseball field on Hunterbrook Road. Mr. Moffett was found with severe injuries to his leg, head, and chest and was immediately transported to Westchester Medical Center for treatment. He suffered two broken ribs, a traumatic brain injury, and a double compound fracture in his leg.

The day after the incident, Kyle Frankild was arrested on charges of intentionally running down Mr. Moffett with the stolen ATV. However, further investigation into the attack revealed that the ATV had been stolen from Suffolk County, leading to additional charges against Frankild.

Following his processing on the new charges, Frankild was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Thursday, October 26.

In the wake of the attack, a GoFundMe fundraiser page was set up to support Mr. Moffett, raising nearly $20,000. He is now undergoing intensive rehabilitation to recover from his injuries.

This incident serves as a reminder of the potential dangers associated with the illegal use of stolen vehicles. The impact on the victim is severe, both physically and emotionally, and the consequences for the perpetrator can be severe as well.

The investigation into this case is ongoing, and authorities are working diligently to ensure justice is served. The community has shown tremendous support for Mr. Moffett, coming together to raise funds to aid in his recovery.
