The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has enlisted the services of Saudi Response Plus Medical (Saudi RPM) to provide emergency medical assistance to Indian pilgrims during Hajj season. The initiative aims to ensure the safety and wellbeing of Indian pilgrims taking part in the religious pilgrimage, with the partnership coming in line with the Indian government’s ongoing commitment to providing comprehensive health support to Indian Hajj pilgrims.
As the third-largest group of pilgrims visiting Mecca every year, an estimated 1,75,025 Indian pilgrims will be provided with emergency medical assistance thanks to the partnership with Saudi RPM. The medical services provider will assign eight fully-equipped Advance Life Support Ambulances to the Indian Embassy, with four stationed in Mecca and four in Medina for a duration of three months.
The partnership officially commenced with the deployment of Saudi RPM’s fleet to the Indian Haj Pilgrims Office in Makkah in the first week of June 2023, marking the start of the agreement term.
Hajj season sees millions of pilgrims from around the world visiting Mecca every year, with Saudi Arabia welcoming between 2.5 million and 3 million pilgrims. The appointment of Saudi RPM represents a crucial step in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Indian pilgrims during the Hajj season.
