Title: Woman in Uttar Pradesh Dies After Fending Off Harasser on Delhi-Meerut Expressway
A tragic incident unfolded on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, resulting in the death of a woman who bravely fought off a harasser. The unfortunate event occurred on September 9th while the woman, identified as Santa, was working in a nearby field accompanied by another woman.
According to the victim’s family, Santa had been frequently stalked by a man on a motorcycle who would frequently make lewd gestures towards her while she worked in the fields.
On that fateful day, Santa decided to confront the harasser, hoping to put an end to his inappropriate behavior. Tragically, as she chased the man away, she was struck by a speeding car on the expressway.
Santa was immediately rushed to the hospital, but despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries on September 13th.
Authorities have since registered a case against the accused individual and are actively investigating to locate him. The grieving relatives of the woman, however, are blaming the highway authorities for permitting two-wheelers to access the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, raising questions about the safety measures in place.
The police investigation has revealed that several other women from the village have also suffered from harassment by the same accused person in the past. To shed light on the incident, Naresh Kumar, the Superintendent of Police in Masuri, Ghaziabad, stated that a woman tragically lost her life in a car accident while pursuing a man who had subjected her to obscene gestures.
Efforts are underway to identify the culprit by reviewing the CCTV footage from the expressway.
This disturbing incident highlights the urgent need to address the safety concerns faced by women in public spaces. The inability of Santa to defend herself without risking her own life showcases the vulnerability females often experience in such situations.
As investigations continue, it is hoped that justice will be served, and measures will be taken to enhance the security and well-being of women in communities across Uttar Pradesh.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Santa’s family and loved ones during this difficult time. This unfortunate incident serves as a reminder of the challenges faced by women and the necessity of creating a safer environment for all.
